Projects in Alliance with Tabonuco
Tabonuco is a Puerto Rican organization that focuses on ecological education, serving youth from Puerto Rico and beyond through different workshops, farm visits, and experiential camps. Its mission is to empower Puerto Rican youth with transformative learning experiences that cultivate social and ecological awareness and stewardship.
HASER and Tabonuco have partnered to develop and host experiential camps for youth in Puerto Rico with a focus on ecological education and sustainability, agroecology education experiences and craft education that promotes the cultivation of culture and local raw resources as a tool for sustainability.
HASER is the 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor of three charitable projects: experiential learning, craft education, and agroecological education.
HASER is a non-profit organization with tax exemption under sections 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code and Section 1101.01(a)(2)(B) of the “Internal Revenue Code for a New Puerto Rico”. The Farm
Their farm is located in the Mameyes neighborhood of Jayuya, Puerto Rico. Tabonuco operates among fields of coffee, plantain and citrus in its rustic infrastructure that includes a gazebo for activities, two bamboo cabins, composting toilets and outdoor showers. Tabonuco runs completely off-grid with spring water and solar panels for electricity.
