More About Taller Guaguarey

Taller Guaguarey is a community-based clay pottery program in the municipality of Cayey, Puerto Rico, that offers free classes. They see clay pottery as earth, memory, and culture—a medium for learning with hands, sparking creativity, and building confidence.

In collaboration with the Cayey Municipal School of Fine Arts and through an agreement with the municipality, Taller Guaguarey offers these free ceramics classes throughout the academic year, including materials, tools, pottery wheels, glazes, and kilns for creating and firing pieces. In this way, clay has become part of the community while providing students with the opportunity to prepare for official registration and certification as artisans in Puerto Rico through the Office of Economic Development.
