Casa Pueblo is a community-based organization committed to protecting natural, cultural, and human resources.
Recipient of the Goldman Prize in 2002, the organization manages Bosque del Pueblo and Bosque La Olimpia, where it runs the educational project Bosque Escuela Ariel Massol Deyá; the first ecological and community radio station, Radio Casa Pueblo (WOQI 1020 AM); the Community School of Music; and the Solar Cinema. It also produces Café Madre Isla, offers art workshops, and manages the Cerro Mágico campground.
Since 2017, it has led the solar energy transition process in Adjuntas and has served as a model and inspiration for similar transformations elsewhere in Puerto Rico and beyond.
To date, Casa Pueblo has completed more than 400 solar installations in the homes of individuals with chronic health conditions, economically vulnerable, and marginalized populations; in businesses that provide essential community services; and in critical infrastructure such as a school and the headquarters of the fire department and emergency medical services.
It is also a pioneer in the development of electrical microgrids (Casa Pueblo, Adjuntas Pueblo Solar, and the Plaza de la Independencia Energética) and will establish Puerto Rico’s first national energy laboratory to advance microgrid research.
You can become a co-founder of Casa Pueblo’s Living Energy Innovation Laboratory by making a financial contribution through this platform.
