Projects in Alliance with Alianza Cultural para Emergencias de Puerto Rico
Alianza Cultural para Emergencias de Puerto Rico is a group of institutions and individuals trained in the preparation and response to emergencies of cultural collections with the mission of advising, informing and educating public and private entities responsible for the management of documentary, cultural and heritage collections in planning, prevention, preparation and response in case of emergencies that threaten the well-being of the resources under their custody in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
HASER and Alianza Cultural para Emergencias de Puerto Rico have joined forces to promote the social well-being of communities in Puerto Rico through community-based projects that advance equity and quality of life.
HASER provides Fiscal Sponsorship to the project for community development and social transformation.
HASER is a non-profit organization with tax exemption under sections 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code and Section 1101.01(a)(2)(B) of the “Internal Revenue Code for a New Puerto Rico”. Alianza Cultural para Emergencias de Puerto Rico firmly believes that the preservation of cultural heritage should be part of the strategies for planning, prevention, preparation and response in case of emergencies caused by natural or human disasters as it is essential for the social well-being of communities, providing a foundation for recovery.
ACE Puerto Rico firmly believes and adopts the ICCROM motto: “Culture cannot wait! [Since]…culture in all of its forms provides a thread of continuity to communities displaced by disasters and helps them transcend the trauma of loss and displacement. Therefore, it cannot be separated from humanitarian assistance.”
Through education virtual or in-person workshops, Alianza Cultural para Emergencias de Puerto Rico aspires to be the local reference entity to advise and inform public and private entities in Puerto Rico that manage cultural heritage collections about plans, adequate management and strategies for the prevention, preparation and conservation of their collections and repositories in case of emergencies.
