Projects in Alliance with La Colmena Cimarrona
La Colmena Cimarrona (Maroon Hive) practices community based agroecology and beekeeping growing food sovereignty in the archipelago of Puerto Rico. Producing food in a healthy and accessible way for all; with the intention of eliminating existing inequities developing a local solidarity economy that promotes mutual support and equity.
HASER and La Colmena Cimarrona partnered between 2018 adn 2025 to practice solidarity economy, agroecology and beekeeping with the intention to sow collective strategies towards food sovereignty in the Antilles. HASER was the 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor of four charitable projects.

La Colmena Cimarrona was founded in 2018 with the aim of practicing and promoting solidarity economy, agroecology, and beekeeping, with the intention of sowing collective strategies towards food sovereignty in the Caribbean Antilles.
To sustain its goals, it established an Alliance with HASER to provide support as a fiscal sponsor for four of its projects: La Semillera, El Panal, La Sambumbia, and La Colectiva Agrícola Viequense, providing them with non-profit status and critical administrative and fiscal infrastructure.
For the past seven years, HASER has provided this support, which allowed these projects to flourish and sustain themselves for the benefit of the communities impacted by La Colmena Cimarrona.
In November 2025, and by mutual agreement between La Colmena Cimarrona and HASER, the fiscal and administrative headquarters of these four projects were transferred to the Center for Creative Economy (CEC), a nonprofit entity whose mission is to support the cultural, creative, artistic, and social enterprise sectors through strategies and services.
The CEC is the current fiscal sponsor of La Colmena Cimarrona’s projects: La Semillera, El Panal, La Sambumbia, and La Colectiva Agrícola Viequense.
